Known-service catalog and validation fixtures
The catalog contains maintainer-assigned mappings from domain suffixes to recognizable services. Each mapping has a reviewer, review date, and functional rationale. Its official link identifies the named entity or product; it may not list that suffix or support the maintainer's category. A match is a useful lower-bound label, not proof of why a request occurred, what it carried, or whether it complied with law.
Search the service catalog
This is the effective catalog used for report labels. It is maintained in-repository and does not import a competitor tracker dataset. Functional categories are review prompts, not privacy grades.
Reference scope: an official page identifies the named entity or product only. It is not presented as a citation for every suffix or as support for the maintainer-assigned category. The mapping and category remain reviewable project assertions; report evidence should always be checked in context.

Detector validation fixture coverage
The matrix below is generated from exact, source-controlled cases in the repository test suite: one positive, one negative, and one adversarial or failure-boundary case for every detector. 5 selected cases run in real Chromium; the others test deterministic detector logic.
This is an acceptance-fixture inventory, not a representative labeled web corpus. It does not support a precision, recall, accuracy, or “all trackers detected” claim. The limitations shown for each detector remain part of the result even when every fixture passes.
Calibration status: committed studies exist, but none is eligible against this exact release. The repository contains 1 committed calibration study, of which 0 are eligible under the current release identity, carrying 0 eligible labeled cases; a further 15 labeled cases in ineligible studies support no rate. Eligibility is re-derived on every build against the exact current release identity, so a study bound to an earlier build, catalog, or filter-list revision demotes itself automatically. A preselected, release-bound, independently labeled case corpus with a declared sampling frame, immutable artifacts, and complete planned denominator is still required.
The published detector-calibration-study.v3 JSON Schema keeps acceptance fixtures outside the calibration denominator. Eligibility requires the exact build commit, detector implementation and registry digests, methodology, normalization, tracker-catalog revision, Brave-list revision, and an independently pinned runtime-identity digest. Every complete case requires immutable prediction, evidence, and label artifacts plus at least two distinct labeler ids and an independent precommitted blind-tiebreaker identity.
Committed calibration studies
pixel-events-pilot-2026-07-28pixel-eventsineligible15 complete cases, 9 censored
No rate is published because some of its cases could not be captured; it predates the schema that binds an exact measurement condition; it was collected under a different build, instrument or list revision; its exact build or runtime identity could not be verified; it recorded too few labeled cases in at least one class.

What this scanner does not measure
Coverage is only a meaningful claim if its edges are stated. These are the privacy-relevant things a report never rules out, so a quiet report is not read as an all-clear. The list is grouped by why each one is absent, because a surface we have not built is a different fact from one we decline to build and from one no page visit can see.
10 of these 20 entries are enforced against the scanner source by a test: if that surface is ever instrumented, the build fails until this page is corrected. The rest rely on review, and are marked accordingly.
Not instrumented
A browser surface this scanner could observe and currently does not. These are the entries that could become coverage; each one is held to its claim by a test that reads the scanner source.
Every page except the one that was scanned
reviewed, not test-enforced
A report covers one URL. Article templates, product and checkout pages, search results, and anything else on the same site frequently load tags the front page does not, and none of that is in this report. The one exception is the privacy policy, which is fetched separately to read its text and whose own traffic is deliberately not part of the request log. Scanning a specific page means submitting that page's URL.
Anything that only loads after scrolling or interaction
reviewed, not test-enforced
The visit does not scroll, hover, or click, apart from the two disclosed bounded interactions. Tags that fire on scroll depth, lazy-loaded images and iframes, and pixels wired to engagement events therefore never run. Their absence from a report is a property of this instrument, not evidence that the site does not use them.
Why a request happened, as a causal chain
reviewed, not test-enforced
A live scan records the initiator URL that Chromium reported for a request, and nothing stronger. That is attribution, not causation: a script in an initiator position may itself have been told what to fetch by another script, and a parser-initiated request names the document rather than the markup that referenced it. Two kinds of row carry no attribution at all and are not distinguished from each other in the log: requests Chromium reported no initiator for, and requests whose URL was fetched from more than one initiator during the same visit, where nothing in the recorded evidence says which row belongs to which. Reports adapted from Brave PageGraph carry an instrumented causal graph instead, and say so.
Device motion, orientation, and ambient sensors
enforced by test
Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and ambient-light readings can carry device entropy. The scanner does not hook these APIs, so a report is silent about them whether or not a page used them.
Battery status
enforced by test
Battery level and charging state were a documented fingerprinting vector. The scanner does not observe the Battery Status API.
Media device enumeration
enforced by test
The list and ordering of cameras and microphones is high-entropy. The scanner does not observe device enumeration.
Installed speech-synthesis voices
enforced by test
Installed voice lists vary by platform and installed software. The scanner does not observe them.
Storage quota estimation
enforced by test
Quota estimates can expose device and profile characteristics. The scanner does not observe quota queries.
High-entropy client hints
enforced by test
Sites can request detailed platform and architecture hints, over request headers or the in-page hint API. No report field holds client-hint headers, and the in-page API is not instrumented, so neither route is visible in a report. The claim is scoped to client hints on purpose: a report does carry one request-header observation, the scanner's own GPC signal readback.
Network information
enforced by test
Effective connection type and downlink estimates are observable entropy. The scanner does not hook the Network Information API.
Timing side channels
enforced by test
High-resolution timers can be used to infer cached resources, hardware characteristics, and cross-site state without any request the scanner would log. The scanner does not observe timer construction or clock probing, so a report saying nothing about timing means the surface was never watched, not that it was unused. The enforced part of this claim is the distinctive high-resolution constructs; a page reading the ordinary coarse clock is not distinguishable from any other script.
Geolocation requests
enforced by test
A page can ask for precise location through the Geolocation API. The scanner neither hooks that API nor grants the permission, so a report does not record that a site asked, and its silence is not evidence that no request was made.
Permission state queries
enforced by test
Querying the state of camera, microphone, notification, or location permissions is itself an entropy source, and it happens without any user prompt. The scanner does not instrument the Permissions API, so these silent queries are absent from every report.
Third-party script integrity over time
reviewed, not test-enforced
A third-party script can change after review. The scanner records which scripts were requested on a visit, but does not compare script bytes between visits, so a silent post-deployment change is not currently detected. This gap is architectural rather than a missing API hook, so no identifier check can stand in for it.
Declined
A capability deliberately not built. These are not backlog items, and building them would change what this project is.
Anything behind a login
reviewed, not test-enforced
Scans are unauthenticated. Behavior that only appears to signed-in users is outside every report, by choice: holding credentials for sites we scan would create a risk we are not willing to carry on readers' behalf.
Behavior hidden behind bot walls
reviewed, not test-enforced
The scanner identifies itself honestly and does not spoof a user agent or solve challenges. When a site refuses an automated browser, the refusal is reported as the finding rather than worked around, so what that site would have done for a human is unmeasured.
Real-user measurement
reviewed, not test-enforced
Every measurement comes from a controlled browser we operate. No panel, extension, or user traffic feeds this project, so findings describe what a site did for this instrument, not a population of real visitors.
Outside the instrument
Not visible to any single instrumented page visit. No amount of engineering on this scanner would reveal it.
What happens after a request arrives
reviewed, not test-enforced
A browser sees that a request was sent and what it carried. It cannot see retention, onward sale, server-to-server sharing, or joins performed after receipt. No report should be read as evidence about any of those.
Native apps and embedded SDKs
reviewed, not test-enforced
This instrument drives a web browser. Mobile applications and the SDKs inside them are a different surface and are never covered by a site's report.
Cross-device and offline identity joins
reviewed, not test-enforced
Linking a visit to other devices, logged-in profiles, or offline records happens outside the page. A single visit cannot observe it, so its absence from a report means nothing about whether it occurs.
